Title: The Banner of the St. James Cross of the Order of Santiago
Here's another Christian wallpaper set!
The Order of Santiago was founded in the 12th century, and owes its name to the national patron of Galicia and Spain, Santiago (English name: St. James the Greater
), under whose banner the Christians of Galicia and Asturias began in the 9th century to combat and drive back the Muslims of the Iberian Peninsula.
The cross is called the the Cross of St. James, and is a cross of a warrior since the lower part is shaped like the blade of a sword.
In fact, it used to symbolize the knightly taking up of the sword in the name of Christ.
